About Layermade Workshop

After over 25 years of an evolving career ranging from modeling & animation to usability design to to home remodeling, Layermade Workshop began simply with one 3D printer gifted from a friend that was moving away. The learning curve was steep and the nights were long figuring not just the process itself, but every quirk and nuance that comes with it… like studying to become a baker with a new oven. You see, to get it right is a bit of an art form as well. A great baker knows how to slightly adjust temperature, time, and ingredients to create a perfect cake. 3D printing is not much different.

Then what began as a hobby quickly became a potential business with the acquisition of a second printer followed immediately by a laser cutting & engraving machine. Suddenly, the possibilities seemed endless and a clear direction emerged after two friends’ wedding and a holiday season of customized gifts. Layermade Workshop would make and sell uniquely designed and personalizable products for people looking to give meaningful and lasting gifts.

The immediate next step was determining the brand which came fairly quickly and evolved into the reflective circle logo you see now. It represents the two opposing process sides of this business: 3D printing by adding layers upward and laser engraving by removing layers downward. And if you haven’t already noticed, you can find an L, M and W in the design as well.

Finally, a flagship product was needed, and after a few epiphanies, a lot of research & development, and so many many iterations, the customizable wine & champagne carrier was born. Several weeks later of building this site and Layermade Workshop is now open!

We hope you find and create that special gift here, and if you can’t find it, let us know and we will happily work with you to make it happen. And make sure to keep coming back to see all the new designs currently in progress.

Cheers!
